Who is Second Nature?

Second Nature is our partner for conveniently providing high-speed internet service to our residents. As an experienced and well-established company, they’ve negotiated group rates with some of the nation’s largest internet service providers, meaning we can offer internet service to our residents at group-rate pricing.

Service is provided by some of the nation’s largest providers – think AT&T, Xfinity, Spectrum, etc. – with Second Nature managing everything for you, from activation to installation to tech support.

Pricing and Billing

How much does it cost, and how will I be billed?
$55/month, billed as a separate line item in addition to your monthly rent amount. The charge and terms are documented in your lease (High‑Speed Internet Lease Addendum), and the rate stays the same for the duration of your initial lease.

Eligibility, Enrollment, and Activation

How do I know if a home includes the service?
If a home is eligible, it will be noted on the home listing/description and in your lease agreement (High‑Speed Internet Lease Addendum). Eligibility varies by home and market.

How do I activate service?
You’ll be automatically signed up but will need to activate by phone. When you receive an email or text from Second Nature after signing your lease, call them at 888-522‑6888 to activate your service. Your internet service will not be activated until you complete this call.


Equipment and Setup

Do I need to buy my own modem or router?
No; equipment is included (typically a modem and Wi‑Fi router).

Can I choose my Wi‑Fi name and password?
Yes. You’ll receive instructions by email before move‑in, and Second Nature can help if needed.


Add‑ons and Upgrades

Can I add TV, upgrade speeds, or request additional Wi‑Fi access points?
Sometimes; availability depends on your location/provider. Add‑ons are not included with your service charges and would be billed directly by the provider (not through FirstKey Homes).

Restart your router. If the issue continues, contact Second Nature; they can troubleshoot remotely and coordinate next steps (including a technician, if needed).


Move‑out

What do I need to do when I move out?
Second Nature will contact you before your lease ends with equipment return and service stop instructions. Missing or damaged equipment may result in provider charges. If you added optional services directly through the provider, cancel them before your lease ends.
