If you are nearing your lease expiration, FirstKey Homes would love to see you stay as part of our family of residents. Renewal offerings are extended prior to your lease expiration pursuant to the notice period in accordance with state law. They are first distributed electronically to the main email address on file, followed up by a hard copy via USPS to your rental home address. We do our best to make it easy for you to keep loving where you live!
Benefits of Renewing Your Lease
- Moving is no fun!
- Save money: No new application fees, security deposits, hiring movers, or buying packing supplies.
- Save time: No need to search listings, tour homes, complete applications, wait for approval, or schedule a move.
- Reduce stress: Do you really want to worry about finding a new home, completing paperwork, hoping nobody else gets it before you, changing your utilities, forwarding your mail, and everything else that goes along with a move?
- Stay where you’re comfortable: Enjoy the stability of staying in your current home, where you’re already established and settled.
Renewing Your FirstKey Homes Lease Online
It’s quick, easy, and convenient to renew you lease online. Here’s how:
- Log in to the online Resident Portal at https://www.rentcafe.com/residentservices/apartmentsforrent/userlogin.aspx.
- Select “Lease” and then “Lease Info” from the home screen.
-
You will be prompted to select your renewal proposal on the Lease Offers screen. Click “Select” on the offer you choose. You will then be directed to confirm your renewal selection; click “Continue."
- IMPORTANT: THIS DOES NOT COMPLETE THE RENEWAL PROCESS. This only confirms your selection of the lease term.
- Please note: The main resident on the account will be required to make the initial lease selection of the terms preferred. Once this is done, an email confirmation of your selected choice will be sent. The Renewals Team will then create the document for signing by all lease holders. At this point, there is no particular order required for all residents to log in and begin the signing process. (Each leaseholder – i.e., resident – is required to sign and must have their own unique email address in order to sign).

Lease Renewal FAQs
Q: I am set up for ACH (automatic payments); do I have to update my account when I renew?
A: If your account is currently set up for automatic clearing house payments (ACH), please make adjustments to your ACH set-up at least 15 days before the start of your new lease term to ensure that your payment amount is set up correctly. You may do this through the online Resident Portal or through your financial institution if you are set up for “bill pay.” Failure to do so may result in improper deduction of funds from your account, which may lead to an unpaid balance on your account.
Q: My current roommate is not renewing, and I want to add someone else to the lease.
A: If there will be any changes to the composition of your household – for example, resident(s) being removed or added, resident name change, etc. – please use the online Self-Service portal to start your request and get assistance.
If you add a new resident to your lease agreement, that individual must submit an application through FirstKey Homes and pay the applicable application fee. The application is required to complete criminal background screening, OFAC screening, and other legal requirements for occupying the rental home.
Additional documentation may be required. Residents may not be removed from the lease agreement until the lease expires. If your account is in good standing, you may begin the process of updating resident information upon receipt of your renewal offer.
Q: What are the requirements for rental insurance at lease renewal?
A: All residents are required to maintain and furnish proof of valid qualifying rental insurance per the renewal lease offered. Please see https://support.firstkeyhomes.com/hc/en-us/articles/8093412314011-Rental-Insurance-Requirements for details.
Q: What if I have current maintenance concerns?
A: For any outstanding maintenance concerns, please submit a request through the online Self-Service portal or call 844-395-3959.
