There are more options than ever when it comes to paying your rent. Whether you prefer the convenience of online payments or the traditional method like paying in person, there's a payment method that suits your needs. In this article, we will explore various ways to pay rent and discuss the benefits of each method. So, let's dive in and discover the various ways to pay rent!

FirstKey Homes Mobile App

1. Select the app from your mobile device home screen or apps section

2. On the home page, select
 Sign In

3. Enter your email address and password from your Resident Portal

4. Select 
Sign In

5. Select 
Make a Payment

6. Select 
Pay Total Balance

7. Select 
Continue

8. Select Payment Account or Add New Account

Confirm and Submit Payment

Resident Portal

1. Navigate to firstkeyhomes.com

2. Select 
Current Residents

3. Select 
Pay My Rent

4. Enter login details:
     • Email (must match the email on file in Yardi)
     • Password

5. Resident MUST have a payment account on file to make a One-Time Payment

6. Select 
Payments tab

7. Scroll down to view current charges

8. Select 
Pay Now

9. Scroll down and select the Payment Account in dropdown

10. The 
Payment Amount field will default to the account balance

NOTE: Partial payments are not permitted, the resident is required to pay the entire account balance.

11. If applicable, the resident can pay more than the account balance by adding an additional amount to the Extra Payment Amount field.

12. Select 
Next

13. On the summary screen, carefully review payment details and select Submit

Text to Pay

1. Navigate to your Resident Portal

2. Select the 
Payment Accounts Tab

3. Scroll to the bottom of the screen in the Text to Pay section

4. Create a PIN

5. Select a Payment Account

6. Select
Save

Additionally, you need to ensure you are opted in to text message notifications

1. Select the Profile Icon at the top right of the portal

2. Select 
Edit Profile

3. Add a check to Allow Text Message Notifications

4. Add Cell Phone Number to 
Mobile Phone for Text Messages

5. Select 
Update Profile at the bottom of the screen

6. After opting into Text Message Notifications a confirmation message will be sent to the phone.

7. Reply 
Y when prompted.

Text to Pay

1. When you are ready to make your payment text BALANCE to 85938

2. You will receive a response detailing your account balance

3. Text Pay Now 

4. A summary text will be received outlining any fees if applicable

5. Reply with your 
PIN number to finalize payment

Walk-in Payment System (WIPS)

1. Sign in to your online Resident Portal 

2. Select the Payment Accounts tab

3. Select Request a WIPs Number

4. Your WIPs account number will be generated and located in the Walk In Payment System section.

5. To find a location that accepts WIPs payment, see https://www.checkfreepay.com/en/payment-locator.html

6. Visit 
https://www.checkfreepay.com/en/payment-locator.html

7. Enter your location in the 
Location Search bar

8. Type WIPS in the 
Biller Search bar and select pop-up WIPS Rent Payments

9. Add a checkmark in the 
Account Number field in the Ways to Pay section

10. Select 
Go

11. Select a location from the list or map views

12. Select the Details tab to ensure the location allows Account Number payments

Payment to Corporate and Market Offices

  • Personal checks are accepted until the 10th of every month
  • Certified funds (money order, cashiers check) can be accepted at any point in the month to the local market office
